Using Websites for Research

Websites can be reliable information sources, but you must evaluate their credibility before citing them for an assignment. For every website, consider:

Currency (look for a publication or revised date)
Relevance (is the article appropriate for academic work)
Authority (evidence of the author's expertise)
Accuracy (evidence that article is based on facts)
Purpose (educational, commercial, informative, etc.)

CNN Money
CNN Money is a financial news and information website, operated by the CNN division of Time Warner. The website was originally formed as a joint venture between CNN and Time Warner's Fortune and Money magazines, but is no longer tied to these magazines.
Forbes
Forbes is an American business magazine which is also online. It features original articles on finance, industry, investing, and marketing topics. Forbes also reports on related subjects such as technology, communications, science, politics, and law.
Google Finance
This Google service features business and enterprise headlines for many corporations including their financial decisions and major news events. Stock information is available, as are stock price charts which contain marks for major news events and corporate actions.
Kiplinger
Kiplinger is a Washington, D.C.-based publisher of business forecasts and personal finance advice, available in print, online, audio, video and software products. Its best-known publications are The Kiplinger Letter, a weekly business and economic forecasting periodical for people in management, and the monthly Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine.
